November 18, 2021 (Vancouver, BC)GeoComply is proud to announce that Chairman and Co-Founder, Anna Sainsbury, has been chosen as the winner for the 2021 RBC Momentum Award as part of the Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards. The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards are the pre-eminent national business awards recognizing the country’s leading female entrepreneurs. Now in its 29th year, the program is an initiative of Women of Influence, an award-winning organization dedicated to advancing Canadian women.

From a pool of thousands of nominees, 23 finalists from coast to coast were selected to represent 7 award categories. The RBC Momentum Award is dedicated to a female entrepreneur that is able to adapt to changing market environments and leverage opportunities for continued growth. She has successfully capitalized on opportunities to deliver 10% or more growth, year-over-year for three years or more.

From managing a coffee shop in North Vancouver to founding a tech unicorn, Anna’s career has been defined by surprising twists and turns. She founded GeoComply in 2011 with a mission to empower the future of digital trust. Under her leadership, the company has grown from a niche solution provider to a global powerhouse in geolocation security. Today, GeoComply helps some of the world’s largest organizations tackle important issues in fraud, data integrity, and federal standards while providing critical information to law enforcement to combat cybercrime and child endangerment.

Along the way, Anna has built a highly diverse and inclusive culture at GeoComply, with half of all senior leadership positions held by women.

“Female entrepreneurship is an area that I’m extremely passionate about so it’s incredibly meaningful to me to be honored with this award,” says Anna. “I’m proud of our company culture which empowers women to become successful leaders, both inside GeoComply or in other ventures they pursue. And even more importantly, being able to offer a supportive environment for women entering or reentering the workforce, getting that important start on their careers is immensely gratifying.”

Anna champions other important causes as well, including co-founding a philanthropic organization, Conscious Gaming. The organization utilizes the advanced technology created at GeoComply to propel social responsibility initiatives such as child protection and responsible gambling and other areas where the company’s expertise and resources can make an impact.

The winners were announced and celebrated at the 29th Annual Awards Gala, on Wednesday, November 17, where all attendees were digitally transported into the Virtual Awards Gala. The evening’s festivities and award ceremony, which were live streamed around the world, shone a spotlight on all of the amazing Canadian women entrepreneurs.

The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards recognizes female business owners from across Canada who make impressive and substantial contributions to the local, Canadian or global economy. Candidates share a strong entrepreneurial vision and a relentless passion in pursuing their dreams. These awards recognize business women from three major regions across Canada: East, Central and West. All nominees were required to submit thorough applications, which are reviewed and judged by a panel of prominent business leaders and subject to a due diligence performed by KPMG.

”This year we received a record-breaking number of applications and are honoured to celebrate the accomplishments of our 2021 award finalists and winners,” says Alicia Skalin, Co-CEO, Women of Influence. “These entrepreneurs have demonstrated remarkable innovation in the face of adversity, and we couldn’t be more excited to congratulate Anna on her win.”

The 2021 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards are presented by RBC. Award sponsors include The Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub, RBC, and our official Due Diligence partner KPMG.
